The Inspector-General of Police, Adamu Mohammed, has ordered an investigation into a video making rounds on social media, showing some police officers harassing a female suspect.
The officers had gone to the home of a suspected kidnapper and armed robber in Ibadan, Oyo state, to arrest him and there they met the 25-year-old lady named Towobola.
After the policemen took the kidnap suspect away, they faced Towobola, handcuffed her and accused her of sleeping with the suspected criminal.
One of the police officers who gave his name as ‘Wyclef’, started filming Tobowola with his phone, asking her questions about her sex life.
Wyclef in the video made mockery of Towobola, telling her that young ladies are fond of dating men with questionable wealth and often land themselves into trouble doing so.
He said that if he were to woo Towobola, she wouldn’t have accepted him but would rather have sex with criminals.
He went further to ask her if she was a virgin and how many men she has slept with.
Towobola stated that she is 25 years old, and a graduate of the University of Ibadan, adding that she had just completed her NYSC.
Reacting to the video The Inspector General of Police (IGP) condemed the act. IGP has directed and order probe of comprehensive investigations to unravelling the identity of the people involved and bring them to justice.
